PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Yavapai County authorities say an Ash Fork man who allegedly tried to kill his mother has been arrested.
County sheriff's officials say 47-year-old Charles Gregory Jones was taken into custody Saturday without incident although he was armed with a handgun and a knife.
They say Jones was wanted on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed his 69-year-old mother multiple times in the chest and lower torso Thursday night.
She was airlifted to a Flagstaff hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Sheriff's officials say Jones fled from the scene in his mother's vehicle, which was located Saturday afternoon partially hidden in a remote area off Interstate 40 west of Ash Fork.
It was unclear Sunday if Jones has a lawyer yet for his case.
