TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The shrine of the Luminous Mother located at the base of Tumamoc Hill will be getting fixed after being vandalized last week.
The Madonna statue that had been perched on the titled altar has been sitting on the ground since the end of December after it was vandalized. The suspects are still at large.
Artist Greg Schoon built the shrine back in 1999. Schoon says he was inspired by the woman who lived in that house, who later died of cancer.
Now, Schoon is fixing it up. He also says there is a newly formed grassroots effort to keep an eye on the shrine.
