Arrest warrant issued for Jack in the Box shooter

Police are searching for the suspect in a shooting that occurred at Jack in the Box on May 8, 2017.

According to Sgt. Kimberly Bay with the Tucson Police Department, the suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Nathan Mayo.

Police were able to determine that a woman was dropped off at the Jack in the Box located at 305 W. Grant by Mayo to meet with her boyfriend and his family. While in the parking lot an argument ensued between Mayo, the boyfriend, and the boyfriend's brother, 17-year-old Carl Thompson.

During the argument, Mayo pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the boyfriend before shooting Thompson. He then fled the scene his vehicle.

Thompson was transported to Banner UMC with life-threatening injuries and died days later on May 13, 2017.

Detectives obtained a Felony Arrest Warrant for Mayo for Aggravated Assault with Serious Physical Injury.
