The University of Arizona Police Department in collaboration with the Tucson Police Department S.W.A.T. team have made an arrest from the shooting that happened last week on the UA campus, according to a press release.

29-year-old Christopher Eugene was arrested without incident at his home on Monday morning. Eugene is being held in Pima County Jail on three felony charges. This includes two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated robbery.

UAPD detectives were able to gather evidence to confirm Eugene was responsible for the shooting. Eugene and the victim of the shooting have no affiliation with the UA.

The shooting was reported to UAPD last week on April just after 7:30 p.m. A citizen called 9-1-1 reporting possible gunshots in the area of the Keating/BIO5 building located at 1657 East Helen Street.

When officers arrived they found shell casings and blood but no victim or suspects were found in the area.

Around 90 minutes after the shooting, a 23-year-old man who was later identified as the victim, checked himself into the hospital for a non life-threatening gunshot wound.

Throughout the night of the incident several UAlerts were sent out to the UA community. UAPD received several tips because of these alerts which aided the investigation and arrest of Eugene.

The case is still under investigation by UAPD.
