WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M. (AP) - The Army plans to launch a target missile from a site in northwestern New Mexico on Thursday.

Officials at White Sands Missile Range said the Juno missile will be launched between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. MST to the range in southern New Mexico from Fort Wingate near Gallup, New Mexico.

White Sands is about 215 miles southeast of Fort Wingate.

On its way, the missile will drop a booster into a safety zone on private and national forest land north of Datil, New Mexico, during its flight to the range. Datil is west of Socorro.

Range officials say there will be roadblocks around the launch area at Fort Wingate but that the launch can be viewed from Red Rock State Park in Gallup.
