Arizona Wildcats wear special uniform to remember 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor

Posted
The Arizona Wildcats recognized Pearl Harbor's 75th anniversary and honored the loss of U.S.S. Arizona during the Hawaii game Saturday evening.

A special pregame ceremony started before the game to honor U.S.S. Arizona survivor Lauren Bruner.

The Wildcats wore special uniforms that were a year and a half in the making.

The gray jersey matched the color of the U.S.S. Arizona ship. The 75 years is for the anniversary.  The left sleeve has a 48 star flag because there were 48 states in the union at the time. There is a 47th Fighter Squadron and the BB-39 honors every person on the ship and anyone that has ever served.

ROTC waved a flag that covered the entire field during the national anthem.

Special guests included Senator John McCain and Congresswoman Martha McSally. They met at the middle of the field to do the coin toss.

Biddingis open for the special helmets and jerseys. 100 percent of the proceeds will go towards University of Arizona's U.S.S. Arizona Mall Memorial. The bidding ends Monday.
