WASHINGTON, DC (KGUN9-TV) - The Department of Homeland Security says the Tucson area is one of the first three border areas to get upgrades for the border wall.
The Q and A list from the DHS site mentions southern Arizona, El Paso, Texas and El Centro, California as the first three areas. It is not specific about where the work in southern Arizona will be but makes it clear the work is to upgrade existing barriers that are ineffective.
A Federal website for bidding on government contracts lists what it calls a presolicitation. It says it will issue more details March 6th, expect bidders to outline their concepts by March 10, and will probably choose contractors by mid-April.
