PHOENIX, Ariz. — Arizona senators are calling on the U.S. department of veteran’s affairs to create a plan to combat veteran suicide.

Martha McSally and Krysten Simema wrote a letter to the V.A. asking for an update on items to reach and help at-risk Arizona veterans.

There are over 520-thousand veterans in Arizona. More than half need treatment.

In a statement the two said "We also know that combating veteran suicide requires collaboration between the VA and Arizona's communities to identify those at risk of suicide and to get them the help they need. We are proud to be leading this important effort."
