FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say an inmate at the state prison in Florence has died in an apparent suicide.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say 24-year-old Kurt Pantastico died Sunday.
Prison staff discovered Pantastico hanging in his cell at the Eyman complex.
They immediately attempted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived but Pantastico was pronounced dead.
Pantastico had been in prison since 2016.
He was sentenced out of Maricopa County to six years for misconduct involving weapons.
Corrections officials say all inmate deaths are investigated in consultation with the county medical examiner's office.
