An Arizona man was arrested after witnesses reported seeing him drag a dog tied to the back of his truck for half a mile (1 kilometer).
Cottonwood Police spokeswoman Sgt. Monica Kuhlt says the 52-year-old man told police Saturday that he had forgotten that his dog was back there. He was arrested for investigation of animal cruelty and driving under the influence.
The 4-year-old Chihuahua named Leia was taken to a local veterinary office to be treated for her injuries, which were mostly caused by road rash. The dog will stay at the vet for 24 to 48 hours for observation.
