The Pentagon confirmed more than a dozen missiles hit two airbases in Iraq that houses U.S. troops early on Wednesday morning.

The attacks were located at the Al-Asad Airbase and Irbil Airbase in Iraq.

These attacks follow death of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani last week.

In a tweet the President said in part, "All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning."

In a tweet Rep. Tom O'Halleran said, "As we receive developments on Iranian military attacks on two airbases in Iraq housing American troops, our entire nation prays for US servicemembers stationed in the region, and their families."

KGUN9 reached out to representatives for all the districts in Southern Arizona, and to Senators Martha McSally and Kyrsten Sinema about their thoughts on the recent missile attack targeting U.S. troops in Iraq.

Democratic Senator Krysten Sinema said, “My highest priority is the safety and security of Arizona families and our servicemembers in harm’s way. Iran’s aggression must be checked, and the administration must provide a coherent effective strategy to safeguard our national security.”

Republican Senator Martha McSally said during an interview, "The important thing here is that we were able to disrupt attacks because when you cut off the head like Soleimani, it is going to be disruptive. Immediate attacks were disrupted of the bases they previously wanted to go after. Now there is an opportunity I think to de-escalate. We have to deter future threats and deterrence means the Qasem Soleimanis need to know we are willing and able to make it so painful for them they have to change their calculus."

Southern Arizona Representative Ann Kirkpatrick said, “I’m praying for our service members and families in Iraq tonight. I’m am monitoring the situation as reports unfold. Our priority must be the safety of Americans, we cannot afford another endless and heartbreaking war.”

Southern Arizona Representative Raul Grijalva tweeted, "My thoughts are with the servicemen and women placed in harm’s way by Trump’s reckless escalation of tensions in the Middle East. We must do everything in our power not to escalate the situation further."
