TUCSON, Ariz. — Republican Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey met with President Donald Trump at the White House Wednesday.

According to the governor's office, the two talked about issues along the southern border. Aides say the governor thanked the president for his focus on border security, and they discussed the humanitarian and security crisis on Arizona's border with Mexico.

At another event in Washington Wednesday, Ducey called on Congress to act.

"I do want to prioritize border security," Gov. Ducey told reporters after the meeting. "I think it's unbelievable that Congress can't act on what is a real crisis at the border, and you take that from a border governor. Of course we don't want to see the border closed, but we want to prioritize border security, and Congress should do its job."

The president and the governor also talked about efforts to grow Arizona's economy and workforce development, the governor said.

Aides say the governor told Trump he supports expanding trade with Mexico.

Governor Ducey and his wife will meet with Ivanka Trump Thursday to talk about childcare and workforce issues.
