At least six fire departments in Arizona have sent over 150 firefighters to California to help fight the deadly fires.
KGUN 9 had the chance to talk to an engine boss from Sedona Fire who is stationed in Thousand Oaks, California. He says crews have been working 12 to 16 hours a day. Part of his work includes going through neighborhoods to make sure there are good fire edges around the community.
"As the fire comes through as the front runs through sometimes it leaves behind little pockets of heat especially when these winds come in, and get that stuff out," said Phil Bruglio with Sedona Fire.
Bruglio says some communities are using goats to graze which creates the fire edges.
It is likely the crews won't come back home to Arizona until after Thanksgiving.
