Crews responded to reports of a tree and apartment fire Friday night near the 5800 block of East 23rd Street.
Firefighters arrived at 11:16 p.m. to find a mesquite tree on fire with ashes dropping onto nearby apartments. While extinguishing the tree, a second crew was assigned to the apartments on fire.
TFD says while battling the tree fire they were presented with a dangerous situation when the power lines began arcing during firefighting operations.
A total of six apartments were evacuated and four were affected by the fire. One man in his 60's from one apartment and one woman in her 60's from another apartment were displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
