TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Firefighters extinguish apartment fire with the help of two good samaritans, according to Tucson Fire Department.

At approximately 2:50 p.m., Tucson Fire Department responded to an apartment fire on near the 3700 block of North Campbell.

Captain Barrett Baker said a woman called 9-1-1 saying that her stove was on fire and that the fire was spreading.

While TFD units were heading to the scene, two employees of the apartment complex used three fire extinguishers and were able to get most of the fire extinguished as firefighters arrived.

One of those employees, Louis Valenzuela, grabbed a nearby extinguisher and began spraying.

Barrett said Valenzuela broke into the glass box that holds the fire extinguisher, cutting up his hand pretty bad.

"We ran and everything, the fire department was there...they told me I was  bleeding," he said.

Baker said firefighters extinguished any remaining flames but after there was smoke damage throughout the apartment.

Baker said the woman and her dog were able to evacuate safely.

The two residents of the apartment were going to be displaced but Baker said that they could stay with family at this time.
