SURPRISE, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - Authorities have located the two children and mother that were abducted from Surprise, Arizona on Saturday afternoon.
According to the media release from the Surprise Police Department, 22-year-old Heriberto Mendoza assaulted Alexis Escalante at a home in the 129000 block of West Tara Lane in Surprise.
Mendoza dragged Escalante to the truck and returned to the home and took the children as well. He may have recently purchased a gun and has made threats to kill the mother and both children.
Authorities were searching for a red 2002 Dodge Ram with Arizona license number BLX0530.
Danna Escalante-Mendoza is age 5 and Heriberto Escalante-Mendoza is age 3.
Both children have been located and are safe; however, Mendoza remains at large.
Mendoza was reported to be armed.
He was apprehended on Saturday afternoon.
