AAA is offering their Tipsy Tow service on the 4th of July in hopes to cut down the number of drunk drivers on the road.
The service provides a free 10-mile tow and ride home for the driver, their vehicle, and one passenger.Tipsy Tow will run from Tuesday, July 4 at six p.m. until six a.m. on Wednesday morning.
You do not have to be a AAA member to use this service, but if you need to get further than 10 miles, a standard towing charge will apply.
If you or someone you know is in need of a ride you should:
- Call 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357)
- Say you need a "Tipsy Tow"
- Provide the driver's name, home address, phone number, and vehicle/driver location
AAA started their Tipsy Tow service in 2009 and have kept thousands of impaired drivers off of Arizona roadways.
AAA says a DUI charge can cost a motorist more than $10,000 in fines, penalties, legal fees and increased insurance costs.
The only flashing lights you’ll want to see this Fourth of July are the fireworks in the sky -- not in your rearview mirror,” communications manager for AAA Arizona, Michelle Donati says, “Everyone wants to have fun on their holiday, but don’t risk a DUI or a potentially deadly crash because of impaired driving.”
