WINSLOW, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - Our week began with sad news about the death of Eagles founder Glenn Frey, who will always have a link to Arizona.
A corner in Winslow. It was actually Jackson Brown who came up with the line "standin on a corner in Winslow, Arizona."
When I went through the town a couple of years ago, I stood on that corner and asked a shopkeeper to take my picture.
And this week -- after the news of Frey's death at the age of 67 -- a lot of people detoured off Interstate 40 -- just to stand on the corner in Winslow, and pay their respects to the songwriter.
The truth is Winslow owes a lot to that song -- Take It Easy -- because an estimated 100,000 people a year get off Interstate 40 to take the Old Highway 66 to stand on that corner.
