A man has been found dead after a house fire near Magee Road and La Cañada Drive.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department says detectives are still investigating the scene at this hour.
Courtney Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for PCSD, says they received a call around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
Deputies from the Foothills District responded to the 1400 block of West Chapala Drive in response to a domestic violence call.
As deputies arrived, they learned that 26-year-old John Karamargin had barricaded himself inside the home.
Deputies were able to evacuate family members from the home and tried to make contact with Karamargin.
As the deputies attempted to make contact, an explosion happened inside the home which caused it to catch on fire.
Firefighters from the Mountain Vista Fire Department were able to put out the fire.
Once the fire was extinguished, Karamargin was found dead inside the home.
PCSD says there were upwards of seven dogs in the home. Three were killed and three were rescued.
The Homicide Unit from PCSD then responded to take over the investigation.
PCSD says the events following the initial 9-1-1 calls and leading up to the death of Karamargin are under investigation at this time.
The American Red Cross will be assisting the family that has been displaced by the house fire.
