RIO RICO, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A man has been arrested after 42 undocumented aliens were discovered in the back of a tractor-trailer on April 18.
According to a media release, Homeland Security Investigations agents were notified by the Department of Homeland Security’s Joint Intelligence Operations Center that suspected illegal aliens were hiding in brush north of Nogales, Arizona.
Air support reported seeing the group of people leaving the brush and climbing into the back of a tractor-trailer.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety stopped the northbound tractor-trailer on Interstate 19 near Tubac, according to a media release.
“This collaborative law enforcement action was made possible because multiple agencies worked together through the Joint Task Force-West Arizona,” explained Arizona Commander Paul Beeson.
The 42 undocumented aliens and driver, a U.S. citizen, were transferred to Border Patrol custody in Nogales.
