Authorities have identified a 4-year-old boy killed Sunday when the ATV he was riding in rolled over and he was ejected.
According to Carol Capas with the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, Wyatt Lamar Bell died in the crash.
The accident happened on private property in a remote desert area near Simons Way and Ocotillo Avenue.
A family friend was driving the vehicle and the little boy was riding in the passenger seat. Capas says the vehicle was equipped with seatbelts but it's unclear if the boy was wearing his. It's also unclear if he was wearing a helmet.
In Arizona, children under 18 are required to wear a helmetwhen riding any kind of off-highway vehicle. But that's the only rule concerning children. There is no age restriction for this kind of activity.
Authorities can't say if speed was a factor in the crash. The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation.
