Five people have died after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 40 west of Kingman.

An 82-year-old man from Nevada has been identified as the wrong-way driver, but the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) has not released any further information about his identity. The driver, according to AZDPS, died at hospital following the crash.

AZDPS says the crash happened around 9 a.m. in the westbound lanes, west of Kingman, near milepost 36.

DPS has not released any additional information on the crash, or the people involved.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says if you’re trying to get to the California state line, the best alternative from the area is taking US 93 in Kingman, followed by state routes 68 and 95.
