FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - An Apache Junction man accused of killing two people in Pinal County in 2016 is scheduled to stand trial next year.
Demian Blu had been ordered to appear for a jury trial on March 30, 2020.
The 41-year-old Blu is facing two counts of first-degree murder.
County sheriff's officials say Keith Long and Renae Gardner were fatally shot in their sleep while staying at an Apache Junction home in May 2016.
Long's body was found in a San Tan Valley canal, and Gardner's body was discovered along Beeline Highway.
Blu was charged with the murders last year.
He's facing additional felony charges of concealing dead bodies and participating in a street gang.
The county Attorney's Office hasn't filed a notice in court indicating it intends to seek the death penalty for Blu.
