PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say two people have died in separate crashes on different areas of a Phoenix freeway.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety says one accident involving multiple vehicles occurred on I-17 at McDowell Road just before 2 a.m. Sunday.
DPS officials say one person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was critically injured.
A second car wreck occurred just after 3 a.m. on an interchange connecting eastbound I-10 and southbound I-17.
DPS says one person died.
Investigators are trying to determine if impairment or speed played a factor in either incident.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says the I-10 ramp and I-17 at McDowell reopened shortly after 9 a.m.
