1 killed, 1 injured in south side shooting

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Tucson police are investigating a homicide that happened on the south side Dec. 20.

Officers responded to the area of E. Mossman Rd. and S. Jeanette Blvd. around 6:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting, according to TPD. Officers found two men near the roadway with gunshot trauma.

Police say officers rendered aid until Tucson Fire medics arrived and took both victims to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

One of the victims died from his injuries, shortly after arriving at the hospital, police say. He was identified as 28-year-old Jose Roberto Martinez Rascon. Next of kin was notified.

The other victim is recovering from his injuries at the hospital.

Police say there are no suspects in custody right now, and detectives believe a white four-door SUV was seen leaving the area after the shooting.
