Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers and Phoenix police officers have shut down at least two lanes after a deadly crash on northbound Interstate 17.
Investigators are on the scene of the collision near Thomas Road. It occurred just before 2:30 a.m. Monday.
The driver of a disabled vehicle was reportedly hit and killed by a passing vehicle. DPS originally reported that a Good Samaritan who stopped to help the driver was hit and killed, but later corrected the report.
The vehicle that hit the man fled the scene. Officials are now looking for a light-colored, short-bed Chevy truck with custom tail lights.
According to DPS, the collision investigation is blocking the right lane and entrance ramp at Thomas Road.
