San Diego County Animal Services is searching for the owners of a dog seen in two photos being tossed by a man over Sunset Cliffs into the water.
According to Director Dan DeSousa, someone sent them the photos Sunday.
DeSousa said they are trying to locate the dog and its owner.
They want to check out the dog medically, DeSousa said.
According to the San Diego Reader, the woman who took the photos briefly posted them to a Facebook community page and another member took screen shots before the woman removed them.
The person who took the screen shot then reposted the photos, upset over them.
The woman who claims to have taken the photo wrote on Facebook, “This dog did it over and over. She loved it.”
Dozens of others spoke out against the act, many calling it animal cruelty.
DeSousa said just because an animal enjoys something does not make it legal and criminal charges may be filed.
