Authorities say a self-driving vehicle was among five other cars involved in a collision in Mesa Saturday night.
Around 10 p.m., Mesa officers responded to the area of Country Club Drive and Southern Avenue after receiving reports of a car crash.
Witnesses told police a car was driving southbound on Country Club Drive when it failed to stop for a red light, officials said. The first car crashed into a Waymo vehicle as it was making a left turn from eastbound Southern Avenue onto Country Club Drive.
After crashing into the Waymo vehicle, the first car continued southbound on Country Club Drive and struck three other cars before stopping, a police spokesperson said.
No serious injuries were reported, authorities said. A child was treated for minor injuries as a result of the incident.
The driver of the first car is believed to have been impaired and was arrested, officials said.
The driver of the Waymo vehicle told officials that the car was not in autonomous mode at the time of the crash.
In May, a Waymo vehicle was struck by a red light runner in Chandler. In that collision, the van was in autonomous mode and the occupant behind the wheel suffered minor injuries.
