The Arizona football team pulled off a late comeback to defeat Grambling State 31-21.
Arizona's home opener did not get off to an expected start. The Wildcats were favored by 44.5 points before kickoff, yet Grambling State took a commanding 21-3 lead at half time. Grambling State had over 300 yards of offense in the first half.
Starting quarterback Anu Solmon stood on the sidelines in street clothes, as the junior is suffering a knee injury.
Brandon Dawkins tabbed his first career start and scored Arizona's first touchdown in the third quarter to cut the score to 21-10.
Dawkins then found senior receiver Trey Griffey for a 34-yard touchdown to bring the Wildcats within 4 points.
Nick Wilson then ran in an 11-yard touchdown to give Arizona its first lead of the night. Wilson finished with 41 carries with 254 yards.
Arizona scored four second half touchdowns to defeat Grambling State.
Dawkins finished his first career start with 339 total yards and one touchdown.
