The National Weather Service in Flagstaff confirmed a funnel cloud formation in northern Arizona on Friday.
The "well-formed" cloud -- not a tornado like some nearby residents thought -- reportedly formed around 11:20 a.m. near Paulden.
Paulden is located west of Sedona.
Cold air and weakly rotating thunderstorms made conditions perfect for the funnel cloud to form, NWS Flagstaff says.
According to ABC15 Meteorologist Iris Hermosillo, NWS Flagstaff has received several reports of funnel clouds from this and other storms.
Reports of small hail and rain have also been reported in northern Arizona, but there no severe weather threat expected.
