A 38-year-old Coconino County man has been arrested for second-degree murder after the death of his 8-month-old son.

Officials were called to a Williams home on September 14 for reports of an unresponsive infant. The child, identified by the Arizona Department of Child Safety as Zane Deysie, was found with several injuries including severe head trauma and was pronounced dead a day later.

According to DCS, the child's father, David Deysie, Jr., was arrested on September 26, 2017 for second-degree murder.

DCS investigated the child's mother for possible neglect in January, however, the reports were unsubstantiated and the case was closed. No reports against David were filed at that time.

Two other children in the home, the victim's half-siblings, were determined to be safe with the other parent. The victim's sibling was in turn removed from the home and placed with other relatives.

DCS says the investigation is a joint effort with Williams Police Department.
