The University of Akron is ready to show off its new facilities for students who are video gamers.
The open-to-the-public eSports (electronic sports) facilities allows people to meet and watch teams compete, as well as put their own gaming skills to the test to play for some cool prizes.
The university is the first public university in northern Ohio to create a comprehensive varsity eSports program. The school joins abotu 70 other collegiate esports programs around the country.
It took $750,000 to prepare and furnish the gaming spaces, which includes the gaming arena at InfoCision Stadium for the varsity teams. Three partner companies donated a host of equipment.
