The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a deadly crash closed westbound Interstate 10 west of the Phoenix area.

According to DPS, a double-trailer semi truck and another truck crashed around 1:50 a.m. Thursday near 339th Avenue. Information from the scene suggests the semi truck rear-ended a pickup truck, causing the pickup to roll. The driver of the pickup was ejected and killed, and the pick-up caught fire.

The driver of the semi was reportedly taken to the hospital for breathing problems, officials say.

Westbound traffic was blocked after the crash. Aerials of the scene showed only a minor backup around 6:30 a.m.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
