A former 4-H coach accused of having sex with a Valley boy 10 years ago has been found working as a nanny in Florida.
Glendale police report that on Saturday they arrested Jose Jesus Torres as he arrived at Sky Harbor International Airport. The 32-year-old is accused of having sex with a minor under 15 years old on four occasions between 2005 and 2007.
Police say Torres was the victim’s 4-H mentor and coach, and helped him in showing goats at events. Torres allegedly had sex with the boy in his truck, as well as inside a home and a barn. The pair also reportedly exchanged sexually explicit photos.
Now an adult, the victim learned that Torres was working as a nanny for a family in Florida and became concerned over the welfare of the children in the home. The victim began his own investigation, and contacted Torres via text, getting him to recount their activities.
The victim then went to police, who learned that Torres was on a Saturday flight from Los Angeles to Phoenix. Torres was arrested at that time, and reportedly told police he was here to "participate in activities at the Arizona State Fair."
Torres also allegedly admitted to police that he knew the child was under 15 at the time of their sexual encounters. Police have confirmed that Torres is currently a nanny in Florida, and is taking care of several small children.
Police continue to check for more victims.
Torres is being held on a $150,000 cash bond on multiple counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
