TUCSON, Ariz. - A local apartment complex is donating much-needed furniture to an orphanage in Mexico.

The Sahara Apartment complex, which has been undergoing renovations since earlier this year, is donating desks, dresses, and beds to the Casa Timoteo orphanage in Sonora, Mexico.

“They had presented a few needs that they had and one of the really simple ones was having a bed for everyone, something we take for granted," said Ross Hubbard, the managing general partner of the Sahara Apartments.

The Sahara Apartment complex will be donating a total of 30 beds to the orphanage, which will give every single child in the facility a place to sleep.

“We had a bunch in storage so we’re like yeah, let's give them all. What else do you need," said Hubbard.

Hubbard added the uncertainty of what fall semester at the University of Arizona will look like has put a damper on the number of leases that have been signed at the Sahara Apartment complex.

“We wanna be much higher, we’re doing as much marketing as we can but ultimately demand is really waiting and seeing what’s going to happen," he said.

Despite the current hardship and uncertainty, he said donating some extra furniture was the least the complex could do to help during these times.
