UPDATE (1:21 p.m., April 15):
According to the interim complaint, a neighbor heard kids screaming and crying in the room next to his and contacted the property manager.
The property manager went to check on the room. He opened the door to find a female, identified in the TPD news release as Katylnne Roy, lying on the ground, the complaint said, and Martine Mayorquin standing over her.
The children were in the bathroom crying.
The complaint said Mayorquin attempted to render aid but she died at the scene.
It went on to say Roy had injuries to her neck and at least one eye, consistent with strangulation, the complaint said.
One of the children said he saw his dad choking his mom. Post Miranda, Mayorquin told officers he choked Roy twice, the complaint said, and punched her in the mouth twice between the chokings.
Mayorquin had scratch marks on his chest and back.
