UPDATE: Car show confrontation at Reid Park leads to two dead, one injured

UPDATE (1:47 p.m., Nov. 4):

Two people have now died and a third person is in the hospital following a shooting at Reid Park on Sunday, Nov. 2.

According to a news release from Tucson Police, an altercation took place at a car show in the parking lot at Reid Park near South Country Club Road and East 22nd Street.

The confrontation escalated and the two groups exchanged gunfire, the news release said.

When Tucson Police showed up at 7:48 p.m., they found 35-year-old Ruth Simpson with an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead, the news release said.

Officers then located a second victim, 37-year-old Carlos Hernandez, with multiple apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries on Monday.

A third gunshot victim, a 34-year-old male, was dropped off at a nearby hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. He remains in stable condition.

All parties involved in the confrontation appear to be accounted for and there are no outstanding suspects, the news release said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police say more information will be released in the next few days, but as of now the investigation is still ongoing.
