Marana Police confirm two dead in Tangerine Crossing neighborhood

No current threat to neighbors, according to MPD

UPDATE 6:25 p.m.

Marana Police are providing an update that two people are now dead in the Tangerine Crossing neighborhood, near Tangerine and Thornydale Roads.

According to MPD, one man was found dead in his garage on North Paseo Penuela with apparent gunshot wounds after police responded to reports of a shooting around 11:40 a.m.

Witnesses told police they saw a neighbor identified as Oscar Octavio Baca, 62, return to his own home after the shooting, according to MPD. Police and Pima Regional SWAT say they eventually found Baca dead inside his home with "an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound."

MPD says "at this time, it appears the shooting was unprovoked."

Marana Police and SWAT are on scene in Tangerine Crossing, near Tangerine and Thornydale.

According to a spokesperson from Marana Police Department, one individual has died. Police say there is currently no threat to the community.

KGUN 9's Tina Giuliano is live on-site, where she says the scene has been active since around noon. She says MPD told her police are trying to make contact with another person.

She spoke with neighbors, who say they're surprised to see this kind of police activity in a normally-quiet area.

As of 4pm, the scene is currently still active. KGUN 9 will provide updates once more information becomes available.
