Two people are in custody after allegedly shooting at a DUI driver in Coconino County.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said at 2:30 p.m. on Monday they received a report from the Department of Public Safety of a shooting that occurred on State Route 87 near the Blue Ridge Area.

According to CCSO, Shane Tebo, 38, and Brandon Vongthongthip, 28, of Phoenix area were traveling on State Route 87 when they observed a possible DUI driver traveling behind them.

They called 911 to report the driver and troopers were dispatched to the area.

Tebo was driving at the time and attempted to block the suspected DUI driver. At that point, the suspected DUI driver drove into a ditch.

CCSO said Tebo drove his vehicle up to the other vehicle to block the driver from returning to the road.

Tebo and Vongthongthip were both carrying firearms and Tebo exited his car to try and take the keys from the suspected DUI driver, 31-year-old Jesse Olsson.

Tebo could not grab the keys and instead shot several rounds into the engine block to try and stop the car from moving.

CCSO said Olsson moved his vehicle forward and Vongthongthip fired several rounds at the suspected DUI driver.

According to CCSO, Olson suffered a gunshot wound to his chest.

A short time later, DPS responded to the scene and detained the shooters.

Olsson was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Tebo was booked into jail for aggravated assault, disorderly conduct with a weapon and disorderly conduct.

Vongthongthip was booked on attempted second degree homcide, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct with a weapon and disorderly conduct.
