Both directions of Interstate 17 were shut down Sunday evening due to a brush fire near Sunset Point.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the fire was reported just after 4 p.m. Sunday near milepost 255. It's believed to have started in the median and jumped to the right shoulder of the interstate.
Officials say winds and low visibility forced a closure of all northbound lanes at Black Canyon City and all southbound lanes at Sunset Point.
The Bureau of Land Management Arizona Fire officials say the fire was about 14 acres and contained completely.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said northbound and southbound lanes were fully reopened without backups around 9:30 p.m.
A northbound crash around 5 p.m. added to the backups in the same area. DPS says one person with unknown injuries was flown to a Phoenix-area hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
