Arcades were once the place to get your game on. Not only could you play some of the hottest games, it was the ultimate socializing spot, where you could hang with your friends and make new ones. Sadly, their popularity faded once technology allowed us to play video games from the comfort of our couches, but history is repeating itself and arcades are coming back in three big ways.
1. Virtual Reality Arcades
Not everyone has the cash or the space for an all-out Oculus Rift experience, which is why virtual reality arcades are popping up around the world. These VR experiences are quickly becoming one of the most popular forms of entertainment and will continue to grow over the next few years.
2. Social Arcade Games
New games are bringing friends together. A great example is Killer Queen.a social game where you play in teams of five, and if you're missing one or two players, just run up to the bar,and grab people to fill holes in the team.
3. Arcade Bars
From the house made “Wine Slushie Bar” at Brewcade in San Francisco, to vintage game finds at The 1up in Denver, there's nothing like catching a buzz while playing some arcade classics.
Grab a stack of quarters, some friends, and a cold brew, because it’s time to get your game on.
