The 91st Academy Awards will not include the recently added "popular" Oscar category.

According to a report from the Hollywood Reporter, the Academy announced Thursday the idea is being put to the side for the moment, citing the need for additional input regarding the category.

There has been a wide range of reactions to the introduction of a new award, and we recognize the need for further discussion with our members, Academy CEO Dawn Hudson said Thursday. We have made changes to the Oscars over the years — including this year — and we will continue to evolve while also respecting the incredible legacy of the last 90 years.

The new category was announced in early August.

This new addition is part of an effort to attract a larger audience by honoring films that are successful at the box office.

The 2019 ceremony will air on Feb. 24.
