Christian may be familiar to fans of The Walking Dead where she played Rosita Espinoza on the AMC TV series. She also played the part of Angela Weber in the Twilight Saga.
The preview clip shows Selena looking over a script and transforming into a superstar.
Netflix has planned six one-hour episodes to tell the story. The series will air in 2020.
Selena's family has been fully involved in the project up to this point and will be executive producers.
