TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — A former CBP officer was sentenced to 30 months in prison last week for accepting a bribe at a border crossing, the U.S. Attorney's Office says.

Federal prosecutors say 58-year-old Jose Rosalio Fuentes Jr. agreed to allow a convicted felon into the United States illegally in 2018 in exchange for a $6,000 bribe. Fuentes knew the man was a convicted felon and met up later to receive the bribe, and the U.S. Attorney's Office says surveillance footage proves it.

After prison, Fuentes will also serve three years of supervised release and have to pay $6,000 fine, per the sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Rosemary Marquez.
