The search for suspected killers who beat a man to death then shot him is on. Sunday morning someone called 9-1-1 to report the incident near 7th Avenue and Lincoln Street.

Police say the incident started hours earlier with an altercation that ended in murder.

Now a growing memorial continues to grow in the area where 37-year-old Israel Dominguez Alfaro was killed. Family and friends have placed balloons, candles and flowers remembering someone they say had a big heart.

Sylvia Gutierrez says her heart is broken and the only thing now is to get justice for her oldest son. "He was a gift to this world," says Gutierrez

With tears in her eyes, the mother of three says her son was a hard worker and had a big heart.

"He was a loving person, kind to people, and very helpful," Gutierrez told KGUN9.

Early Sunday morning, a knock on the door changed her life forever when she learned that her first born had been killed. "It was the most horrible experience I have ever had in my life."

Tucson police say Alfaro and 29-year-old Alice Puente were involved in a physical altercation before the shooting.

When Alfaro and his brother were walking in the area of 7th and Lincoln, just blocks away from their home - a blue SUV pulled up next to them. That’s when multiple men and Puente jumped out the car and a fight began.

Investigators say the group then beat Alfaro with a bat and then someone shot and killed him.

His mother telling KGUN she just wants them caught and put in jail.

Puente was arrested and is facing first degree murder and kidnapping charges.

The incident is still under investigation if you have any information you are asked to call the Tucson Police Department.
