Forget about having groceries just delivered to your door. You could actually get a person to come and put them directly in your fridge for you.
Walmart revealed it's testing out such a grocery delivery service with a company that makes smart locks.
Here's how it works: You put in your order on Walmart's website. Then a delivery person gets a one-time password to use on your lock. You get a notification on your phone when the delivery person shows up.
The smart lock company has an app that lest you watch the delivery person while they're in your home.
The service is being tested in Silicon Valley, but if it works out it could spread to major cities including Tucson.
This is just the latest way companies are trying to compete with Amazon. Target expanded its next-day delivery service for goods including pet food and laundry detergent. It hasn't made it to Tucson yet, but could come to town after being tested in Denver. The service is similar to Amazon's Prime Pantry, but costs a dollar less and doesn't require an annual membership.
