Residents trapped in east side apartments

Tucson Fire Department rescued residents who were trapped in their east side apartments.

More than 6 trees fell causing damage to two buildings at the Woodridge Apartments located at 8225 E Speedway Blvd.

The responders had to enter through the apartment window to get one of the residents out of his unit.

There were no injuries.

According to TFD, building safety is going through each of the apartment buildings to make sure it is safe for residents to return.

Red Cross is on scene to provide assistance to residents who cannot reenter their apartments.

According to a Red Cross media release, disaster workers are currently assisting 14 people who were displaced after monsoon damage to the apartment complex.
