Micah Chermak was home when the incident happened. He heard a pop -- figured it was probably somebody setting off fireworks. He heard a crash -- figured it was probably just a car accident, they happen a lot in front of his house, he says.

This was from today's pursuit involving a bank robbery, a car-jacking, and an officer involved shooting.

"At first I thought it was just fireworks going off," Chermak said. "And I heard something that sounded like a car accident, which happens frequently in front of my house, so I just assumed it was another usual wreck."

But then he and his girlfriend heard six more pops. He knew what they were.

"When I heard the pops of gunfire, then, I quickly ran to the window," he said. "I saw movement and crashed police cars, and then I took cover with my girlfriend."

Unsure of what was going on, he and his girlfriend took cover inside his house.

"It was terrifying," Chermak said. "It was just, scary. That's about it. I couldn't move, couldn't do anything but sit and hope that help was coming."

He explained after hearing gun shots and screaming, he looked out the window to see police officers attempting to resuscitate a man in the street, who he believed to be the suspect of the yesterday's bank robbery and today's car jacking. He thinks there were more than 50 officers there.

Once the crime scene had died down a bit, he was allowed to leave to go to work with a police escort and in a friend's car.
