Bomb threat suspect surrenders in Douglas

The man in connection with a series of bomb threats in Tucson surrendered on Saturday morning at the Point of Entry in Douglas, Arizona according to Tucson Police Department. 

Octavio Acosta was booked into the Cochise County Jail at 4 a.m. A felony arrest warrant had been issued for the 42-year-old for Hoax, Interference with an Educational Institution, and False Reporting.

The Tucson Police Department Bomb Squad has been working in cooperation with the Marana Police Department, Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Department of Public Safety and members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force to investigate the 18 separate incidents.

The locations of the hoaxes included health centers, churches, schools and government buildings. In some cases, buildings were evacuated and business or classes were disrupted for several hours. 

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be added at a later date according to Tucson Police.
