On Thursday, two Tucson Police officers ended up going to the hospital after being shot in the line of duty. Because of this, George Moses said it's time to step up and show local law enforcement support -- to "Back the Blue."

"When they're shot at," Moses said. "I think that should make us stop and really appreciate what they do."

He's the founder of Gospel Echoes of Tucson, a volunteer street chaplain ministry in Tucson. So, he decided to rally a group of people together to an intersection to wave signs, flags, and say "thank you," to law enforcement.

"We know that they are standing between us and the bad guys," Moses said.

One of the people who showed up to the demonstration was Robert Borger. He explained he was devastated when he heard that two officers were shot.

"I was praying that it was not another fatality," he said.

Very grateful the officers are alive, he says he wants the whole city to know how much they mean to him.

"They're out there every day putting their lives on the line so that we have a safe community," Borger said. "I just want them to know that I care."

Both Moses and Borger, openly very appreciative of local law enforcement. They have a similar message to officers in the Old Pueblo.

"Thank you for standing between us and the bad guys," Moses said. "Because if it wasn't for them, we'd all be at risk."

The street chaplain hopes to have a "Back the Blue" event once a month, aimed at spreading the word to be appreciative of local law enforcement.
